Earned Media → AI Visibility Correlation
Question
Does increased earned-media coverage correlate with increased brand presence or source presence in generative search, and do some publisher types, campaign angles or propagation patterns correlate more strongly than others?
Findings
START HERE — 1) Select 10–20 campaigns with a clear publication/coverage date and enough earned-media pickup. 2) Record brand, angle, publisher domains, number of articles, timing and propagation. 3) Define a fixed GEO prompt set relevant to the brand/topic. 4) Measure brand appearance and source presence in a consistent pre/post window using the same prompts and engines. 5) Analyse changes overall and by publisher/domain type. 6) Compare campaigns with stronger vs weaker coverage. 7) Report patterns as correlations only.
SUCCESS THRESHOLD — Deepen if several campaigns show a repeatable directional relationship between earned-media expansion and increased source/brand presence, especially when the same publisher types recur across cases.
Do not claim causality. Control for prompt-set changes, campaign timing and broader news effects; exact-URL attribution should be treated as a stronger but separate test.

Next Move
If a repeatable pattern appears, design a prospective test where campaign launch, media pickup and GEO metrics are monitored from day 0 using fixed prompts and pre-defined windows.
